I’ve been exploring different hosting options and came across Windows shared web hosting. I’m curious to know how beneficial it actually is compared to Linux hosting. I understand it supports ASP.NET, MSSQL, and other Microsoft technologies, but is it a good option for small websites or personal projects too?
How’s the performance, security, and ease of use in your experience? If anyone here has used Windows shared hosting, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Is it worth choosing over Linux for any specific use cases?

From my personal experience, Windows shared web hosting has been a reliable and beginner-friendly option, especially when I first started building websites. One of the biggest advantages I found was its compatibility with technologies like ASP.NET, MSSQL, and the .NET framework, which I needed for a couple of web applications. Unlike Linux hosting, Windows hosting made it easier to work with Microsoft-based tools and scripts.
I also appreciated the familiar interface of the Plesk control panel. It was intuitive and allowed me to manage files, emails, databases, and domains without needing deep technical knowledge. Even when I needed to run classic ASP or Access databases, Windows hosting handled it smoothly.
What stood out the most was the seamless integration with Microsoft products. For instance, managing emails through Outlook and setting up MS SQL databases was straightforward. The support team also had a better understanding of Microsoft environments, which helped resolve issues quickly.
Although it's slightly more expensive than Linux shared hosting, the convenience and compatibility it offers were worth it for my needs. For anyone working with Microsoft technologies or looking for a user-friendly hosting environment, I’d definitely recommend trying Windows shared hosting.
